The Greeneville-Greene County History Museum was featured in an article in local paper The Greeneville Sun. The article, titled “History Museum Takes ‘StEPs’ For Growth,” highlighted the East Tennessee museum’s successful completion of the first StEPs section, “Mission, Vision, and Governance.”

The Greeneville-Greene County History Museum has been awarded a certificate for completing the first part of a year-long review developed by the American Association for State and Local History, a press release announced earlier this week.

The local museum meets AASLH standards for its mission, vision and governance.

The review is part of the “StEPs” program: Standards and Excellence for History Organizations, a national organization that helps museums connect to their communities.

Museum board members Kathy Giles and Dan Hawk are overseeing the program that helps set clear direction for future improvements.

“I think it will give us more of an appreciation for what we have and what we need to do,” said Giles in the release.
