Are you attending #AASLH2015 in Louisville? If yes, please join the Educators and Interpreters Affinity Group at one or more of the following events!

History Happy Hour
On Wednesday between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, we are joining with the Small Museums and the Visitors Voices Affinity Groups for a casual happy hour networking event. Start the conference out by meeting new colleagues and friends! We’ll be in the hotel bar, which is called Blu.

Educators and Interpreters Kick-Off Session
For the past several years, the committee has hosted an annual meeting kick-off during the first session on Thursday morning. Start your conference off right by joining us! We’ll share information about the Educators and Interpreters Affinity Group. And then, guest speaker Jodi Lewis, Director of Public Programs at the Frazier History Museum in Louisville will discuss how her organization has changed their approach to large-scale events. Together, we’ll discuss the often fine line between fundraising/cultivation events and traditional mission- and education-related public programs. Do they have to be mutually exclusive? Is there room for mission in fundraising events, and is there room for fundraising in mission events? Lastly, we’ll work in small groups to develop criteria for assessing program ideas to ensure that they have clear outcomes and meet organizational goals.

Educators and Interpreters Luncheon
Join us for lively discussions on current issues and trends in museum education. We’ll enjoy a nice lunch while we work together to determine table topics. Then, we’ll grab our deserts and move around the room to participate in meaningful discussions, all while meeting new colleagues and friends. Pre-registration is required, so please ask if there are tickets still available at registration.

We look forward to seeing you in Louisville!
