This message is from Becky Beaulieu, Taft Museum of Art President and CEO, and Whitney Owens, Chief Learning Officer at Cincinnati Museum Center. Becky and Whitney are Co-Chairs of the Host Committee for the 2025 AASLH Annual Conference.
The 2025 AASLH Annual Conference is fast approaching, and this year’s theme––The American Experiment––could not be more timely. From September 10-13, cultural professionals from across the country will gather in Cincinnati to explore how artists, historians, and civic leaders have long been at the heart of American creativity, innovation, and progress. There is no better place to hold this convening than Cincinnati—a city that continues to define, contribute to, and reflect The American Experiment—as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of independence.
For the Taft Museum of Art, this year’s conference holds special significance. It marks the museum’s first year as an AASLH member. “In a time when cultural institutions are navigating complex challenges––from funding shifts to changing audience expectations––membership in AASLH is proving to be a critical investment,” says Becky Beaulieu, Taft Museum of Art President and CEO and AASLH Host Committee Co-Chair. “The national conference and year-round resources ensure that our team has access to expert insights, leadership development, and a national platform to share our unique perspective during a time when it’s more important than ever to equip civic professionals. In our first year as a member, the Taft is proud to sponsor, lead, and participate in several events during the annual conference.”
“Institutions of all sizes and missions can come together to reflect, engage, and recommit to the work of making history relevant and visible,” says Whitney Owens, Chief Learning Officer at Cincinnati Museum Center and AASLH Host Committee Co-Chair. “As long-time members and current hosts, we encourage our peers to see the AASLH conference in Cincinnati as a strategic tool for growth and impact. Community is energizing – and collaboration is powerful. Together, we can learn, question, and support each other through these challenging times.”
Looking forward to embracing the experiment together~
