AASLH’s premier leadership cohort returns—with a new track for senior leaders.

Now Accepting Applications: Executive Insight Circle (EIC)
AASLH is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the next year of the Executive Insight Circle (EIC)—a high-impact, cohort-based leadership experience for chief executives and senior leaders in the field, offered through the History Leadership Institute.

The Executive Insight Circle brings together a small group of peers for sustained, candid conversation about the challenges and opportunities facing today’s history leaders. It helps history executives lead with clarity, confidence, and connection in a time of rapid change.

Through EIC, participants will:

  • Find support for bold, effective leadership through reflection, dialogue, and collaboration
  • Build a trusted peer network in a confidential, supportive environment
  • Engage emerging issues facing history organizations, from funding pressures to political dynamics to new technologies
  • Work through real challenges using structured, facilitated discussions with your peers

Following a successful inaugural year, we are expanding the program for 2026–2027 with two distinct cohorts!

CEOs / Executive Directors cohort

Facilitated by renowned consultant, designer, and facilitator Andrea Jones, this cohort will exclusively serve CEOs, executive directors, and other primary directors at history organizations. The CEO / Executive Director cohort will also include a one-on-one coaching session with Andrea!

Member rate: $3,150
Nonmember rate: $3,900

Senior Leaders cohort

Facilitated by long-time AASLH staffer and historian John Garrison Marks, this cohort will serve senior leaders who report directly to their organization’s CEO or executive director, including vice presidents, deputy directors, and other similar staff.

Member rate: $2,750
Nonmember rate: $3,500

Program Structure

The 9-month program runs from September 2026 through June 2027 and includes:

  • In-person kickoff at the AASLH Annual Conference (registration, travel, lodging not included in program fee)
  • Monthly virtual sessions (2 hours each) focused on peer consultation and facilitated discussion
  • Ongoing cohort connection between sessions for a regular source of support
